Details: Crystal was last seen on January 24, 2005 at approximately 8:00 or 8:30 AM at the Shaw’s Corner Store close to Jones Avenue and Main Street in Andrews, South Carolina. The store owner confirmed that she ate a hot dog there and then used the telephone.
Crystal called her father and asked him to come pick her up. Her father was too sick to drive, and Crystal said she would walk home. She never arrived and has never been heard from again. A tracker dog later traced her scent a short distance from the store.

Crystal lived with her father and son at the time of her disappearance. After her disappearance, her son was put into the care of her mother. She has a history of leaving home without warning, but she had always stayed in contact with her son. She also had allegedly struggled with substance use disorder prior to her disappearance. While she has left before, she has never gone for more than a few days at a time.
In early 2026, after years of vigils, dead ends, public pleas and fading leads, a newly discovered wallet believed to be tied to Crystal’s case has given investigators their first tangible piece of evidence in years while simultaneously opening a fresh set of questions for a family that has waited decades to receive answers. A resident turned over a black wallet after it reportedly fell from an old couch while furniture was being moved from a property in Williamsburg County. Inside were items with Crystal Soles’ name. The wallet has since been submitted to S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) for forensic testing, including DNA analysis. For Crystal’s mother, the discovery immediately revived hope, as well as suspicion.
Family members have publicly questioned how identification inside the wallet could remain legible after twenty years if exposed to weather, openly asking whether the item may have been protected from the elements or surfaced more recently through some other chain of events.
Additionally, they haven’t been told the exact location where the wallet was discovered – an omission which has become a point of frustration.
The State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) ran DNA and fingerprint analysis on the wallet. Reporting by Live 5 News in May 2026 revealed that the tests unfortunately came back inconclusive, yielding no actionable forensic leads.
Raymond Moody, who later pled guilty to the high-profile 2009 murder of teenager Brittanee Drexel in the same region was named as a person of interest in Crystal’s case back in 2012. He has never formally charged in connection to Crystal’s disappearance.
