William Hall, age 17, was last seen on July 19, 1967, leaving his home in Port Credit, Ontario. Before he disappeared, William had cashed a pay-cheque at a bank in Lakeview near Port Credit and picked up groceries for his sister-in-law. He told his family he planned to travel with someone he met (whose name he didn’t give) to look for work at a tobacco farm.
His car, a 1956 Chevrolet V8 automatic, was later found with a flat tire abandoned near the Highway 401 and the Don Valley Parkway.
William’s badly decomposed body was found by a road superintendent in the bush about 50 feet off Concession 2 in Manvers Township on July 31, 1967. His cause of death was a gunshot wound to the back of the head, inflicted with a small-caliber gun and forensic analysis suggested he had been killed 10 to 14 days before his body was discovered.
The case remains unsolved, although in 2017, on the 50th anniversary of the murder, the OPP announced that using modern forensic technology, they had uncovered new DNA and fingerprint evidence from the original items found at the scene and in William’s car.
Investigators urge any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for the murder of William Hall to immediately contact the Director of Ontario Provincial Police Criminal Investigation Services at 1-888-310-1122 or 705 329-6111, or their nearest police authority.
