Law enforcement later confirmed a subsequent sighting near Highway 59 and Provincial Road 317 close to the community of Libau, south of Lake Winnipeg.

Derwin is a member of the Garden Hill First Nation and was living a transient lifestyle, frequently visiting shelters in the Winnipeg area.
