Alias: Anita Louise Gilavish Evans
Location: Calgary, Alberta
Date of birth: October 5, 1953
Anita’s date of death: January 1992
The body of Anita Gilavish was discovered in a pond at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary in the eastern part of Calgary on January 18, 1992. Anita’s family members said that at the time was struggling with substance use disorder and associated with a “rough crowd”.
The Calgary Police Service have never officially solved Anita’s murder, however investigators and independent criminologists have looked into potential ties to transient serial offenders active in Western Canada during that era. Specifically, Luc Gregoire has been mentioned in connection with Anita’s case. Investigative theories have heavily examined convicted violent offender Luc Gregoire as a potential suspect. Gregoire, a federal parolee who was later convicted of a brutal murder in Quebec, had been granted a travel permit to move permanently to Calgary for work in late 1991. This was just weeks before Anita’s body was found.
Unfortunately Anita’s case is classified as an active cold case, law enforcement continues to periodically review forensic evidence as technology advances.

Anyone with historical information regarding Anita’s death or her associates in late 1991 and early 1992 is encouraged to come forward, even if it is anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
