The Unsolved Murder of Patricia ‘Trisha’ Lynn Paraszczuk

Location: Hamilton, ON
Date of birth: June 11, 1955
Patricia’s Date of death: March 3, 1982
Hamilton Police Service File #: 82009630

On the evening of March 3, 1982, neighbors noticed flames coming from the home of Patricia Paraszczuk. They broke down the doors in an attempt to rescue Trisha but were overcome by the flames.

Hamilton Fire Department extinguished the fire and eventually found Patricia’s body. While the house was set on fire, investigators determined that she did not die from the blaze. She had been strangled beforehand in what police believe was an attempt to stage her death as a suicide.

At the time of her death, 26-year-old Trisha was a professional nurse. She was also in the midst of a divorce, which led investigators to explore her personal connections, though no firm suspects were ever arrested. Patricia was a popular, smart, young professional nurse who had her whole life ahead of her. Witnesses who were reluctant to come forward or tell the truth at the time are encouraged to do so now.

Her family, specifically her father, has spent decades attempting to seek justice and placing annual memoriam notices in local newspapers to ensure the case is not forgotten.
