Details : During the weekend of August 18, 1972, Dennis and a friend left for a fishing trip on MacMillan Lake in Manitoba, Canada. They were reported missing on August 22 when they failed to return. Investigators determined that both men were last seen by a man on shore on Sunday the 20th, and their camp was still set up. They told the man that they were going to make one more pass and then intended to break camp. They have never been seen since.
At the time of their disappearance, the men were in a fairly small canoe. Weather conditions were such that there would have been rough water, and it is assumed they may have capsized. An extensive land, water, and air search recovered various articles that were identified as belongings of the two missing fishermen, but they were never located.
