Man Arrested In The Noelle Russo Murder Case

Noelle Russo was found nude and had been beaten to death on June 27, 1983 in Rohnert Park, California.

A man has been arrested for the murder of Noelle Russo who was beaten to death in 1983 in Sonoma County, authorities said.

Alfredo Carretero Jr. was one of the original persons of interest in the case. He was arrested this week for the murder of Noelle Russo, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office said.

On June 27, 1983, Noelle Russo was found naked and beaten to death in Rohnert Park.

Since her murder, law enforcement had come up with a ‘person of interest’ after collecting evidence, administered interviews however no one had even been arrested.

As detectives pressed on with on the case, between 2010 to 2023, additional pieces of evidence were submitted for DNA analysis, the sheriff’s office said.

“Based on DNA and other evidence,” Alfredo Carretero Jr. was positively identified as a suspect, the sheriff’s office announced Tuesday.

Carretero was arrested for murder on Monday and is being held without bail, the sheriff’s office said. He is due back in court on October 18, 2023.
