Delmer Gilchrist was a 29-year-old man who was murdered on January 22, 1980, in Scarborough, Ontario.
Police responded to an emergency call at approximately 12:40 am. Delmer was found in the underground garage of a building at 225 Markham Road (43 Division) in Scarborough, Ontario. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by emergency personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Delmer lived on the sixth floor of that building.
Newspaper articles say that Delmer died as a result of a shotgun blast at close range to his head.

He was carrying $300.00 of coins as he worked as the ‘operator’ of a pinball machine parlor on Kingston Road. Delmer had specifically gone out to get that days cash intake. It is believed that his killer was crouched down laying in wait between two rows of parked cars just inside the garage entrance of the building on Markham Road just north of Eglinton Avenue.
