Notable: Susan has a scar on her abdomen, 10 mm, from appendix surgery and an 8 mm scar on her forehead. Her ears have 3 piercings in each. Susan also has some tattoos: a panther on her left thigh, a tiger on her hip (unspecified which hip), and a heart with a design on her chest.
Details: On August 31, 2002, Susan was reported missing by members of her family. Susan was known to Hamilton police for both sex work and drug offences. A friend of hers in the area of Barton Street East and Stirton Street last saw Susan in early November 2001. Susan’s disappearance has often been linked with a number of assaults and murders in Hamilton between 1999-2002, namely that of Felicia Floriani and Kimlyn Tolgyes.
Hamilton Police Services states she was reported missing by friends and family August 30, 2002, though the RCMP states she was reported missing by her mother February 28, 2002.
Susan’s disappeared in the middle of a time period when there was extreme violence against women in Hamilton, including at least 10 other assaults, murders and violent altercations during the span of a year. It has not been confirmed that all of these cases are linked to the same person (and it is not likely that they were all the same person), but it’s indisputable that the continued epidemic of violence against women (especially sex workers) was, and continues to run fairly unchecked in Hamilton.
The Hamilton Spectator has reported on her suspected link to other assaults and murders of women in Hamilton.
Despite over 800 leads and 150 persons of interest investigated by the task force, Susan’s body has never been found and no one has been charged in her disappearance.
