The Unsolved Murder of Crysta Lynn David

Location: New Westminster, BC
Date of birth: March 10, 1971
Crysta’s Date of death: March 20, 1992
Case reference: 1992-6819

Crysta was a 21-year-old Métis woman who was found murdered in her home in New Westminster, British Columbia, on March 25, 1992. Her case remains one of the province’s high-profile unsolved homicides.

Crysta had recently moved into her basement apartment located in the 1100 block of 4th Avenue. She had moved out of her grandmother’s house near Tipperary Park on March 1. Crysta’s grandmother called New Westminster Police when she couldn’t reach her. Upon entry, law enforcement found Crysta’s body. Law enforcement determined she had been beaten, sexually assaulted and choked to death.

Crysta had met up with friends at a New Westminster bar then known as “California Dreamin'” in British Columbia on March 20, 1992. Crysta reportedly entered the bar at 11:30 pm and spent time talking to an unidentified blonde man near the pool tables until she left at 2:15 am. The man has been described as being approximately 25 years old with a medium height and build and wearing a faded blue jean jacket. It is unclear if the man is considered a suspect or a witness in Crysta’s case. This would be the last time she was seen alive.

Sadly, her grandmother passed away in 2013, however Crysta’s godmother still calls every year to see if there have been any updates in Crysta’s case. Crysta’s family longs for answers.
