Details: On February 12, 2015, a family member attended Hamilton Police with concerns as to Nuseiba’s whereabouts. The last time anyone has seen or heard from Nuseiba was in the fall of 2006 when a family member dropped her off at the family farm located at 1207 Concession 8 Road West in Flamborough. At the time of her disappearance, Nuseiba was residing with her mother and father. No one in the family had alerted police of Nuseiba’s disappearance for years. The Hamilton Police Service reclassified her case as a homicide shortly after the 2015 report. While her remains have never been found, investigators are convinced she was murdered.
Police conducted an extensive search of the Hasan family’s former property at 1207 Concession 8 Road West in Flamborough. Cadaver dogs, ground-penetrating radar, police on horseback and a drone have all been used to scour the rural 22-hectare property. A forensic anthropologist was also called in.
On August 28, 2023, the Ontario Superior Court officially declared Nuseiba deceased. Police believe members of her family are responsible and have information they are withholding. Law enforcement have explored the possibility of an “honor killing” due to Nuseiba’s rebellion against her family’s strict traditional values. Her father, who owned an excavating business, was a person of interest but died in 2012.
Nuseiba’s biological daughter, Yasmin, who was put up for adoption in 2001, has become a primary advocate for the case after discovering her birth mother was a victim in an unsolved cold case.
