Frances Phillips worked as a nurse at Toronto Western Hospital. Law enforcement believe she was last seen on the evening of July 31, 1963, at about 10:15pm. She was traveling from her home to the hospital via public transit along Queen Street.
On Thursday, August 1, 1963, at about 5:55am, police responded to an emergency call in the area of Albert Street and Bay Street. Frances was discovered in a laneway in the Albert Street and Bay Street area and was obviously deceased. Frances’ cause of death is blunt force trauma.
The unsolved murder of Frances Phillips remains one of the oldest active cold cases in Toronto.
