The Unsolved Murder of Jean Marie LaChance

Jean Marie LaChance was a 29-year-old mother of five. She was last seen on September 14, 1991, at approximately 2:00 am in the 3500 block of 2nd Avenue West. She was specifically seen leaving the (former) Coronet bar at closing time.

Her remains were found the following morning, September 15, 1991, at approximately 8:00 am in a wooded area south of the Victoria Hospital. Her cause of death is listed as a homicide.

Investigators and family members have made multiple public pleas, including a 34th-anniversary appeal in September 2025. Sergeant Aaron Anderson has stated that advancements in investigative technology and forensic techniques offer hope for a breakthrough despite the time passed.

A memorial bench to honor Jean LaChance was installed in the 2800 block of 10th Avenue West, near where she was found.
