Details: Chance Kay was last seen around 1:00am on Friday, March 29, 2024. He had been at the Skyways Motel to meet an acquaintance. Earlier that evening, he had asked his common-law partner for her car to go to a drugstore in Bracebridge but later left the motel area on foot, leaving his cell phone behind.
There were two unconfirmed sightings of a man matching his description walking south on Winhara Road later that same evening at around 6:00pm. Due to his pattern of life and dedication to his family, his disappearance is considered to be very out of character for him.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated ground and aerial searches, including the use of canine units (K9) and the Emergency Response Team (ERT), in the area near the motel and Winhara Road shortly after he was reported missing. Independent volunteer organizations, such as Ontario Search and Recovery Canines and Please Bring Me Home, have also conducted independent searches with family involvement.
