Norman Washington Manley Ennis was a 43-year-old taxi driver who was murdered in Toronto on December 10, 1991. Norman was shot around 3:22am and died in the hospital at approximately 9:20am.

Norman had reportedly picked up four men near the Hollywood Dinner Theatre at Danforth and Greenwood shortly before 3:00am. A passing motorist later found his taxi and saw a man running away from the scene. Norman was found inside his Beck taxi at 2322 Eglinton Avenue West, near Eglinton Avenue West and Blackthorn Avenue. He had been shot twice in the back of the head. The shots came from the back seat of his cab.
The case quickly became a cold case after police ran out of leads. Despite public appeals for information from the Toronto Police and Norman’s family over the years, no one has been charged or convicted in his death. The family continues to hope the case will one day be solved.
The murder of Norman Ennis was the 83rd homicide in Toronto in 1991, a year that set a record for homicides that stood until 2018.
