The Unsolved Murder Of Shariek Douse

Case Number: 15681401
Location: Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
Date: August 12, 2015

On August 12, 2015 just before 8:30pm, there was a knock at the door of Shariek Douse’s family home. Shariek was asked to come outside by a person he was familiar with. Witnesses say they heard 3 gunshots, and saw a teen in a red shirt running away.

At approximately 8:30 pm, police were dispatched to a shooting at the ‘Jamesville’ housing complex in the neighborhood between MacNab and James St N. Police had received several calls for “shots fired” and a male down. The male victim was identified as Shariek Douse. Shariek appeared to have suffered from a gunshot wound(s). When EMS arrived on scene, Shariek had no vital signs and was pronounced dead. Numerous calls made to 911 described a suspect running away after the shooting as a black male between the ages of 15 to 17 years. The HPS continues to investigate and is seeking further information from the public.

While Shariek had fallen in with a bad crowd, there is no evidence that his murder was gang related.

Four people had been taken in for questioning in what the Hamilton Police Service calls a ‘targeted attack’, but all were released with no charges.

Shariek’s murder remains unsolved.

Anyone with information about Shariek’s homicide is being asked to contact S/Sgt Dave Oleniuk of the Homicide Unit at 905-546-3829.
