Details: In the summer of 2009, Judith Evelyn Anderson’s sister, Shelley, was last seen in Haileybury and Cobalt, both towns in Ontario. She was last seen alive on July 1st, 2009 at the Haileybury Country Style with an older man driving a Jimmy-style SUV that was maroon and silver in color. Shelley lived with a brain injury as a result of being in a coma as a teenager. Her family describes her as very capable and “street smart” despite her disability. She was not on any known medication when she disappeared.
Shelley was reported missing on July 23, 2010 when an employee of the Ontario Disability Support Program got in touch with the OPP, reporting that support cheques had been returned without being cashed for more than a year. Shelley could be in the Ontario towns of Timmins or Schumacher as she grew up in those areas.
Shelley's two siblings said they were never in frequent contact with Shelley, but have tried to keep in touch with her over the years and are in contact with Shelley’s children. They have been looking for her since her disappearance. At one point the they were told to back off from the investigation. Her sister, Judy, believes her case was not investigated properly because she’s Indigenous and mentally disabled.
Note: Canada's Missing has Shelley's missing date as September 15, 2009 but everywhere else says Shelley was last seen on July 1, 2009.
