Details: Casey was last seen by her mother at bedtime the evening before. There were no signs of violence or a break-in in the home. Casey’s mother, Barbara said that the front door had been slightly open when she woke up that morning. Investigators have narrowed down Casey’s disappearance to somewhere between about 2:00am and 9:00 am on Saturday, August 5, 1989 One of the neighbors thought he had seen Casey in front of her home, dressed and playing with a doll at approximately 9:30 am that morning.
Casey’s disappearance prompted police and dozens of volunteers to search the area around the home. Her mother and stepfather combed the area, searching through bushes and opening cupboards in garages, calling her name. Three days later, police called their search off.
Casey’s family had just moved to North Delta from Langley, British Columbia a month before, so Casey wouldn’t have been familiar with the neighborhood. Law enforcement believe she may have been killed, or abducted and taken elsewhere with no memory of her early years.
