Their night started at Smitty’s lounge, they then moved to Canad Inn (where Amber’s vehicle was left in the parking lot) and then went to the Cat and Fiddle Nite Club. Amber was last seen on October 18, 2008 at approximately 1:00am leaving the Cat and Fiddle Nite Club in Portage la Prairie. There is security footage of her in the store with these two men. This was the last time that Amber Lynn McFarland was seen.

As of June of 2009, Amber’s missing persons case is being investigated as a homicide.

In July of 2009, Garrioch was arrested (along with another man) for questioning in the disappearance and suspected homicide of Amber. In October of 2009, the other man said he was cleared by the RCMP after taking a polygraph.

Amber had a no contact order against her ex-boyfriend regarding his ‘allegedly’ assaulting her back in May of 2008 and was supposed to testify against him in the following month (November 2008). The ex-boyfriend was also charged with disobeying a court order on October 14, 2008 involving another complainant.

In Canada, a no-contact order is a legal directive issued by a court or police, restricting or prohibiting an individual (the accused) from contacting another person (the complainant/victim). These orders are frequently used in domestic violence cases, but can also be applied in other situations involving threats or violence. A no-contact order aims to protect the targeted individual from harm or intimidation by the accused.

An extensive search involving searching Garrioch’s former property and the draining and searching of two ponds have not resulted in locating Amber. The charges against Garrioch were dismissed as Amber was not here to testify.

Note: It’s literally as if Amber disappeared into thin air. Since we know that’s not actually a possibility, she has to be out there somewhere. Someone Saw Something. People don’t just disappear. Someone else out there knows something and may be afraid to come forward. Please, if this was your daughter/sister/mother/friend, you’d want someone to speak up for them. Come forward.
