In a sad update from Ken MacDonald, the father of missing man Justin MacDonald has announced that he had located the remains of his missing son in the Morley Road area of Sydney, Nova Scotia. Justin’s parents have been out conducting searches since July of 2024. 322 days of searching by family & friends.
An arrest has been made in this case, however Justin MacDonald has not been located. This case is on-going.

Details: Kenneth Justin MacDonald, who goes by Justin, was last seen July 7 at 11:00pm at the Irving Gas Station at 183 Commercial St. in North Sydney, where he was captured on the store’s security camera. On July 9, 2024 Justin’s car, a blue Kia Forte with license plate FYZ 715, was found 25 km from the gas station. It was parked in the Ormond Crescent area of Mira Road, in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. According to law enforcement, it has been burnt out. At that time, investigators said that they had reason to believe that Justin may be a victim of foul play.


On December 13, 2024 it was reported that a man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the disappearance and homicide of Justin MacDonald. Cape Breton Regional Police say 38-year-old Mitchell George McPhee was arrested in Sydney, Nova Scotia on December 12, 2024. In addition to manslaughter, McPhee is also facing robbery and assault charges in relation to Justin’s case. Police have said that they expect to make further arrests and lay additional charges in this case, so they wonāt be releasing any more details at this time.
According to court documents, they also charged him with robbery and assault on a different man (according to the CBC)
Police say they have been following up on leads and actively investigating MacDonaldās disappearance, including multiple searches with K9 and drone teams, as well as Ground Search and Rescue.
To date, Justin has not been located.
