Details about Janice’s case: On the morning of Janice’s disappearance, she and her boyfriend climbed into a dumpster behind the Center of Hope on Franklin Avenue. Both of them were houseless and intended to sleep in the dumpster.
Janice’s boyfriend left at around 7:30am to get breakfast at a nearby McDonald’s restaurant. At 8:22am, the dumpster was picked up by a garbage truck and had its contents emptied into the back of the truck. Janice’s boyfriend returned at 8:30am. He searched the area and places she frequented before he concluded that the dumpster was emptied while Janice was still inside.
Janice was reported missing two days later. Video surveillance footage confirmed that Janice’s boyfriend left the dumpster, but she never did and nobody else was seen getting into or getting out of the dumpster. A landfill was excavated and searched for nine days, but Janice was never found. Police searched the area a size of a football field and two meters deep.
Police have stated that they do not believe that Janice’s disappearance is suspicious in nature.
To date, Janice has not been located.
