Details about Kimberly’s case: Kimberly was last seen leaving through the back door of her job at the Canadian Tire Ltd. at 6203 Quinpool Road in Halifax, where she was employed as a cashier on August 12, 1989 at 4:20 pm.. Her sister and friends were to pick her up when she finished work at five. But Kimberly’s supervisor told her that she could leave early. The store was about a 15-minute walk from the apartment where she lived. When they left to pick her up, Kimberly’s sister and friends drove the same route to the store that she would have taken had she walked home. There was no sign of her.

There were unconfirmed reports that Kimberly was last seen at the Gardenia Flower Shop in Penhorn Mall in Dartmouth. She was identified by an employee at the flower shop as having bought a balloon and a rose.

Kimberly was a Dalhousie University undergrad at the time of her disappearance.

Her bank account has had no activity and her belongings weren’t taken from her home. Foul play is suspected in her disappearance.

Cyril McAndrew, Kimberly’s father, was a former RCMP officer and devoted his life to finding Kimberly until he passed away in 2004. Megan Adams, Kimberly’s younger sister, believes she was abducted and presumably murdered. She doesn’t believe that Kimberly willingly left because she always wanted company and would rarely, if ever walk alone.

Andrew Johnson, a convicted sex offender serving a prison sentence in British Columbia, is a person of interest in Kimberly’s disappearance. His brother’s property in Shad Bay, Nova Scotia was searched for four days in relation to her disappearance.

Serial killer Michael Wayne McGray was on the loose and in the area when Kimberly disappeared. He claims too “not remember” if she was one of his victims or not.

Investigators believe that there are people who have information about what happened to Kimberly. We hope the passage of time will encourage them to do the right thing and share what they know with police. It’s never too late to come forward and the smallest piece of information may be just what’s needed to progress the investigation into Kimberly’s disappearance.

The Government of the Province of Nova Scotia is offering rewards of up to one hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the disappearance of Kimberly Ann McAndrew.
The reward is payable in Canadian funds and will be apportioned as deemed just by the Minister of Justice for the Province of Nova Scotia. Employees of law enforcement and correctional agencies are not eligible to collect this reward.
