Details about Pitseolak’s case: Pitseolak was last seen near Mallik Island in Kinngait, Nunavut on November 19, 2022. He was reported missing the following day by a family member. According to the RCMP, Pitseolak was last seen walking on the ice towards the mountains.

The RCMP has used an underwater search team using sonar and camera equipment, but found nothing. They also have used a drone to search the areas outside of the town. They found some bear tracks, but no human tracks. They searched the flight manifests and were able to confirm that Pitseolak did not leave the community by plane.

The RCMP searched Pitseolak’s home for signs of suspicious activity and knocked on neighbours’ doors. They also searched an area by Malik Island, where it was believed Pitseolak was last seen.

Pitseolak’s mother described him as friendly, humble, kind and very well-known in the community. He was never in trouble and didn’t bother anyone.

Sgt. Pauline Melanson, a spokesperson for the Nunavut RCMP said it’s standard practice to keep the file open on a missing person until the person is found.
