Details about Ernestine’s case: On December 6, 1989, Ernestine walked from a home in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan to a pay phone, and has not been seen since then. She had been gone for a long time so her cousin, George went to check in on her. He found the payphone with the receiver dangling and Ernestine’s purse on the ground.
Ernestine was from Stony Rapids and had moved to Prince Albert. She always dressed nicely and was a happy-go-lucky person who was kind and caring to others.
In approximately 2009, a skull was found buried in Black Lake First Nation. Ernestine’s cousin, Mary Jane told the CBC that the skull was identified as Ernestine and that she’s still considered as missing because they haven’t found her body. Members of the Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) say they are investigating Ernestine’s case as a missing persons case. They would not confirm if skull they found was or was not Ernestine’s, or if it is buried on the First Nation.
Before her disappearance, Mary Jane says that Ernestine was living with a lawyer as her marriage had ended prior to her disappearance. She’s unsure if the PAPS investigated the lawyer or the people who were involved in Ernestine’s life when she disappeared. The PAPS has had little to no contact with the family.
To date, Ernestine has not been seen or heard from and is still remains missing officially.
