No one knows what happened to them.
In the last 14 months 3 men have disappeared from the small town of Smith’s Falls. The missing men are Lawrence Bertrim, 43, Robbie Thomson, 34, and Steve Tate, 34.
No one knows what happened to them. All they have are rumors, but no hints to where the men actually went.
Law enforcement have not linked the three cases. While all of the men are said to have been friends, there is nothing showing their disappearances are related.
The story begins in the fall of 2022 when Lawrence Bertrim, vanished.

Notable: Lawrence was last seen in the town’s downtown on September 30th, 2022 at approximately 11:00pm leaving a residence on foot on Church St W in Smiths Falls. Investigators have been receiving an abundance of second-hand information, the detectives need to hear from anyone with potential first-hand knowledge of his activities the night he disappeared or in the days leading up to his disappearance.
Lawrence is still missing.
Just over a year later, between October 12 and 18, Robbie Thomson disappeared.

Notable: Investigators want to hear from anyone with potentially relevant doorbell, dashcam or other video recordings from the days leading up to Robbie’s disappearance.
Robbie is still missing.
A few weeks later, 34-year-old Steve Tate was reported missing. Steve Tate went missing on November 4, 2023. His body was found four days late on Highway 15. Law enforcement has suggested that Steven was struck by a dark-colored hatchback or sedan that would have been damaged on its passenger side. It is believed that this was a hit and run.
It isn’t clear how well Lawrence, Robbie & Steve had known each other of if their disappearances are at all connected. All three men had a history of drug use were known to police. The police also noted that they all had similar interests.
Steve Tate’s house was raided by law enforcement as part of a drug investigation in November 2023.
Several people have since been charged with possession along with intent to distribute. There have been no charges connected to the Lawrence, Robbie & Steven’s cases.
Grisly rumors have been spreading about how these men have supposedly died. All of these rumors are unconfirmed. Law enforcement has apparently kept a lid on all three cases and have no comments regarding the rumors spreading.
While investigators haven’t figured out what’s happened to these men, they haven’t ruled out foul play in all three cases.
To date, no arrests have been made.
