On January 4, 1999, John’s neighbors grew suspicious when he had not shoveled his driveway after a large snow storm. Later, they saw that his backdoor had been forced open. Inside, they found John Horvath’s body. He was at the bottom of the basement stairs in a pool of blood. He had been beaten to death inside his Norway Avenue home.
John was 75 years old when he was murdered. He was a retired teacher and lived alone.
Police say that he suffered from blunt force trauma to his head and it appeared that he interuppted a burglary in progress. He was supposed to have been visiting family in Thunder Bay at the time and the intruders could have thought his home was empty. Law enforcement estimates that John had been killed 48 hours prior to his body being discovered.
Someone out there knows something.
