Details About Mary’s Case: Mary was the victim of an aggravated assault in the Roseau River First Nation on May 25, 1997 and had been admitted to the Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada for medical treatment. It is believed Mary had suffered from a head trauma as a result of this aggravated assault from which she developed schizophrenia.

Mary was admitted to the Selkirk Mental Institution in Selkirk, Manitoba, Canada for treatment of her schizophrenia and discharged herself from this institution on August 8th, 1999. Mary went to her niece’s residence in the Elmwood neighborhood of nearby Winnipeg after she left the Selkirk Mental Health Center. She was last seen getting into a black, four-door sedan and told her niece that she would be back in an hour.

First Nations police said there were reports that Mary may have gone to the Vancouver area, but police weren’t able to confirm that detail.

At the time of Mary’s disappearance, she was the mother of 4 children. The Manitoba First Nations Police Service is concerned because of the length of time that has gone by since she had contact with her family or friends.
