At lunch time at Larder Lake Public School, he and 2 other boys planned to skip class and go hang out in the bush behind the school. The boys did not return home that night. The next morning the boys Robert was last seen with came out of the woods to the highway, and got a ride into town from a gentleman who alleged the children looked disturbed and scared. Robert was nowhere to be found.

The boys had claimed in their statement that Robert was arguing with them about the size of the fire and said that it was too small. Unfortunately, they were unable to make any larger because of the wet ground. Supposedly he took off on his own and he hasn’t been seen since.
The group home that Robert resided in looked for him for about a day (or possibly more). It is not noted publicly who officially reported Robert as missing.
