Circumstances behind Disappearance:
Leona was last seen at her residence in Fort Providence, Northwest Territories on March 15, 1989. During the time prior to her disappearance, Leona was leading a somewhat high-risk, and transient lifestyle. There were some unconfirmed reports that Leona had been seen in Edmonton, Alberta and Florida, USA. A tip led authorities to a woman who had looked like Leona, however she turned out to not be her. Her disappearance is considered suspicious.
